Mariah Carey’s 12th studio album to date called “Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel” will be released on September 25, 2009. So this is going to be an advanced preview for those who like her genre of music. It’s a 2-CD compilation, the first of which has 17 tracks, while the second features different remixes of her smash-hit “Obsessed.”

“Obsessed” was released as her first album single back in July and debuted at number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 list. It’s actually her highest debut since 1998′s “My All,” which is pretty surprising. She said she chose to use three images for the cover art because “there are a lot of different emotions and stories revealed on this album and that there will be big ballads in it.”

Upon the actual release of the album, “Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel” is packaged in a 3-panel softpack. A must-have for all Mariah fans, and will include: – The CD – A 2nd Enhanced CD featuring the “Obsessed” video, a remix video, and 3 remixes. Enjoy!

I just watched the premiere showing of Revenge of the Fallen last night and it was pretty entertaining. Not that I really noticed any particularly good tracks from the movie as I was constantly distracted by how amazing Megan Fox looked every single time she was on-screen but I’ve listened to this just now and it’s actually pretty good.

The OST features tracks from Linkin Park, Green Day, The Fray, Nickelback, Taking Back Sunday, Hoobastank, Cheap Trick and others. The download is around 78MB and really worth listening to but you’ve got to go see the movie. It rocks.

Star Trek’s latest success in the big screen did not only rely on great directing and casting but on the soundtrack as well. And again, JJ Abrams has collaborated with his long time partner Michael Giacchino who has his own personal attachment to the film as he was a big fan of the series and the original music. You’d think a score like this would be done pretty simply since it is Star Trek but they utilized a 107-piece orchestra and a 40-person choir! Imagine that.

The partnership between the two isn’t new as it has spanned through the music in Lost, the Fringe, and Mission Impossible III. Now with this latest score breathing new life into a cult classic that looks unbelievably fresh and new, a sequel would inevitably follow. After watching “The Dark Knight” last week, it was the score that definitely set the mood and tone for the movie perfectly. Not surprisingly, Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard were the orchestrators of each masterpiece in the OST. Both of them realized that creating a heroic theme that a viewer could hum would ignore the complexity and darkness of the characters. So that theme is only audible early on in the film, and it created what Zimmer described as a “red herring”, a kind of musical foreshadowing. “The Dark Knight Original Motion Picture Soundtrack” was officially released 13 days ago.

Honestly, a few of the tracks were a bit redundant, probably because they are all pretty lengthy to begin with. It was an OK soundtrack for me, nothing superb like what Zimmer and Howard could really do. But for the movie, it was perfect. The OST probably could have had shorter tracks for the audience to have had a better listening experience. In any case, above is the official artwork for the special edition OST, and according to sources, the score will come in 4 different versions. The first is a 1-disc standard CD; the second is a 2 LP set of 180 gram vinyl; the third would be a special edition digi-pack; and the fourth would be the Collector’s Edition. After a long hiatus from the music scene, Maroon 5 released their 2nd studio album “It Won’t Be Soon Before Long” back in May of 2007, five years after their Grammy Award winning 1st album “Songs About Jane,” that went gold, platinum, then triple platinum.  The second set debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 with first week sales of nearly half a million.
