After watching “The Dark Knight” last week, it was the score that definitely set the mood and tone for the movie perfectly. Not surprisingly, Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard were the orchestrators of each masterpiece in the OST. Both of them realized that creating a heroic theme that a viewer could hum would ignore the complexity and darkness of the characters. So that theme is only audible early on in the film, and it created what Zimmer described as a “red herring”, a kind of musical foreshadowing. “The Dark Knight Original Motion Picture Soundtrack” was officially released 13 days ago.

Honestly, a few of the tracks were a bit redundant, probably because they are all pretty lengthy to begin with. It was an OK soundtrack for me, nothing superb like what Zimmer and Howard could really do. But for the movie, it was perfect. The OST probably could have had shorter tracks for the audience to have had a better listening experience. In any case, above is the official artwork for the special edition OST, and according to sources, the score will come in 4 different versions. The first is a 1-disc standard CD; the second is a 2 LP set of 180 gram vinyl; the third would be a special edition digi-pack; and the fourth would be the Collector’s Edition. After a long hiatus from the music scene, Maroon 5 released their 2nd studio album “It Won’t Be Soon Before Long” back in May of 2007, five years after their Grammy Award winning 1st album “Songs About Jane,” that went gold, platinum, then triple platinum.  The second set debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 with first week sales of nearly half a million. The album has since hit platinum with 1.8 million albums sold in the US alone and over 3.5 million world wide.

I used to like watching this series back in the day, and now that I think about how long ago that was, it’s actually pretty funny One thing I know I liked about the show were the personalities of the 4 mainstays, but the other thing I liked about it was the music that came with each scene. I’m pretty sure this movie is going to be a bust, but the OST is a different story. The tracks are pretty good and the artists who are in this movie soundtrack are not too shabby either.

I have been hearing a lot of rave reviews about how good the original soundtrack of the first Chronicles of Narnia movie was. Unfortunately, I don’t have the release of that, but I do have the release of the second one There are two links below for the torrents, just in case one link is down.

Honestly, I have never watched this movie because I think it’s another one of those trilogies again. But I have always loved the OST’s of these movie types (such as Beowulf and the like) and I would like to think this one would also be as good.

I should be watching the first movie real soon, as the second one is coming out in a month or so. I should also be listening to that first OST! I’m not one to shy away from saying that I love Mariah Carey’s songs… though I used to enjoy the older ones more. The sentimental songs she had back then (Hero, Love Takes Time, Endless Love) I think fits her voice better compared to the hip-hop party pop songs she has these days, but that’s just me. Her “Music Box” album was just one of the best full compilation of new songs I can remember. I’m not sure how many albums she has that has hit number 1, but I know it’s quite a lot. So let’s see if this new one brings her to number 1 yet again.
