Lebron James loses to Warehouse Worker in H-O-R-S-E

After Lebron James had won his Gold medal in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, he held an online contest called “LeBron’s Trick Shot Challenge sponsored by Cub Cadet.” A guy named David Kalb of La Habra, California, won it by throwing a ball against a wall and have it bounce back and through a hoop on a forklift that is spinning in a circle (see link below). And by winning that contest, he had the chance to play against Lebron James for a game of H-O-R-S-E.

The judges of the contest picked nine of the best entries while fans narrowed the field to just three. James then picked the winner and faced David Kalb for a game of H-O-R-S-E in Venice Beach, California, on a Wednesday evening. Kalb eventually beat Lebron with a bunch of different trick shots that included bouncing the ball high in the lane, and then racing around the goal post, catching the ball as it came down and alley-ooping it into the basket (again, see the link below). James missed his try, and after losing the first game, declared best two-of-three. Each made quite a few trick shots, but Kalb still went on to win the second game. After Lebron missed his final shot, he tossed the ball away in humorous anger, and then congratulated Kalb. Nice gimmick by Lebron, it would have been nice if he had won though :)

Prison Break Season 4 Begins!

TV No Comments »

Prison Break is FINALLY back! After a LONG hiatus due to that writer’s strike and whatever other issues got in the way, the 2-hour premiere for Season 4 was finally aired.  The gang is back and guess what, Sara is STILL alive. Now how that happened, you’ll just have to watch the episodes and see for yourself. But for Prison Break fans, it has been a long time coming!

Prison Break Season 4

The first two episodes called “Scylla,” and “Breaking and Entering,” starts the brand new season off, as what is left of Michael’s team reunites in Los Angeles to seek vengeance against Whistler and Gretchen for Sara’s death. But that’s not even remotely close to what the season is about, and there are a bunch of great twists that will shock you in these first two episodes. There’s no prison they are breaking out of this time, it’s more of the other way around now. I won’t divulge any other information other than the fact that the first two episodes rocked, and that you NEED to watch them. A spectacular start for a show that’s been absent for so long.

Browser Wars: Google Unleashes Chrome!

Technology No Comments »

Chrome: Google's Newest Browser! In its most aggressive attack on Microsoft to date, inside sources with knowledge of the Chrome project said that Google is preparing to unveil its brand new browser for download as early as TODAY to try and loosen Microsoft’s stranglehold on the most vital piece of navigating software for the internet.

Google has constantly been trying to get more wallet share from Microsoft’s pocket by developing small-scale web-based applications to compete with the very dominant Microsoft Office portfolio (Word, Excel, and the like) but has been rather unsuccessful in breaking that barrier. But with this unprecedented move, which sources say have been rumored since ’04, Google Chrome is unleashing an attack on Microsoft’s huge Internet Explorer browser market which surveys put at around 75%.

To combat Microsoft IE’s dominance in recent years, Google has been backing Mozilla’s Firefox browser, whichFirefox vs IE grew out of the ashes of the once-powerful, now-irrelevant Netscape browser. It has now grown to an astonishing 18% of the market! Google pays Mozilla royalties for Google ad clicks that come from Firefox searches. But clearly, Mozilla’s efforts were not enough for Google, and seemed like a “delaying” tactic they had to employ to bide time for the release of its own browser. This is very significant as their core business is internet-based and what it lies on is not its own browser! Thus with the current beta release of Chrome, Google is declaring the browser critical and vital to its future, and in that regard, it is entirely right.

The efforts to do this have been well known within the company for a long time, and finally it has been launched and released today! Google Chrome Comic StripI would expect it to be somewhat similar to what Mozilla Firefox did for version 3.0 when they launched Mid-June with a record-setting 8.3 million downloads in 24 hours, but it was pretty quiet and certainly not to the extent of that Firefox launch. But I was hoping it would be something less mediocre than blog announcements and hush hush word of mouth rumors. One thing is for sure though, Chrome has been unleashed!

All Things Digital: Boomtown released a bunch of comic strips explaining a few technical aspects of the up and coming open-source browser, while Google Blogoscope has released an overview of some features of the browser, all seemingly coming from improvements and related plug-ins from the browser it is supporting currently, which is Mozilla Firefox 3. I’m pretty excited to see what Google is going to come up with, so I’m going to download the browser right now. The download link is available below for those who want to do the same.

What Did Christ Die For?

Sorry to those of you who came in here looking for a serious answer. I was just about to go to bed when I came upon this picture. Not that I’m blasphemous or anything, but this was just too funny for me not to post here :-)

Dunkin' Donuts

This is going to be a very hectic month. I have my schedule all laid out as early as right now, with 6 sessions where I need to train partners and customers for 3 hours each, and then still be able to find a way to do something or buy something decent for my fiancee for her birthday, and then also be able to finally do the actual blog that I was supposed to finish writing 3 days ago. It’s proving to be more difficult than I thought it would be, trying to write about the 5 different types of guys in relationships. So that should be out sometime this week :-) Have a great September everyone!
